Overnight closure of Westminster Avenue

Updated on October 8

Westminster Avenue will be fully closed between Milner and Avon from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. while final corrective work is carried out. Local detours will be in place.

Once the measures are complete, please follow the new signage to help ensure the safety of all road users. Our Public Security officers will also maintain an increased presence.

The Town of Montreal West will soon implement transitional measures on Westminster Avenue, between Milner Avenue and Avon Road to comply with Transport Canada requirements and to improve safety and traffic flow near the Westminster level crossing, a complex and high-traffic area where motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and trains intersect.

The work is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 3, 2026.

Impacts on traffic

  • Full closure of Westminster Avenue between Milner Avenue and Avon Road from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
    • Detour by Elmhurst
  • Des Érables Street will be temporarily opened at the intersection of Broughton Road between 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to facilitate local access to the Ainslie area during the closure of Westminster Avenue. The bollards will be reinstalled each morning
  • Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times
  • Access to properties will be maintained, unless otherwise indicated
  • Temporary on-street parking restrictions.
